Hey Trev....great vd. Tks. It was an old-time Geelong experience for me. REAL and raw Aussie pub rock. Y'know...back in the day (i/e 76 to 82) the hard rock pubs in Geelong were the Eureka and Waurn Ponds. There was another rough as guts hotel (under the bridge, Geelong West?) which name escapes me. The Golf View and Sundowner were disco. I saw Dragon, Cold Chiesl. Oz Crawl, Stars (remember them?), Split Enz and Doug Parkinson at the Eureka. The promoter there was a guy named Ian Lovell who had a touch of the Freddie Mercury about him (i.e short dark hair and...). His doorman sidekick was a genuine lothario blond guy named Morrisson, who managed to wrangle his way into the early Goanna band. Thems were the days. In 1979 Rose Tattoo and the Angels were the two go-to rock bands doing the pub circuit. Both (I think) managed by 'Dirty Pools management who used to charge $5k for a one nighter...I know because I booked bands to play at a pub in Ballarat (The Victoria) back then. I'm guessing Corio is still a hard core industrial (wharfie) section of Geelong....haven't lived there for 43 years.

I once heard an outrageous story regarding Billy Idol visiting or touring Thailand. Apparently his behaviour was so outlandish that he was anaesiatised, put on a plane and barred for life from ever entering the kingdom of Thailand again. Is this true, or a myth?
